City of Dover, UK

We set out early from Paris, ensuring arrival in London before night, since I haven’t been able to get a workshop adjust my headlights (turns out coverage-foil to compensate for asymmetric headlights is not an option on bi-xenon lights...). We had a plan A and plan B for the trip, the first being a ferry from Bolougne-Sur-Mer to Dover, the other one being the Eurotunnel, if we missed the ferry. But the drive went smooth as silk, the last 1,5 hours with the cruise control set on 140km/t. We arrived 25 minutes before the ferry was to depart, the next one not departing until 4 hours later... After a 50 minute ferry ride over the wavy English channel, we arrived in Dover, mentally switching to the left side of the road... Jumping in at deep water, the trip started out with two roundabouts, which was weird as hell... Looking to the right to spot prioritized traffic, blinking and exiting to the left... Nope, this is all wrong, no question about it.

Anyways, about 1h45m later, we arrived in downtown London, which compared to the M20 freeway was... well... chaotic. Just to put the icing on the cake, the road to the hotel was closed due to maintenance, so we drove around the blocks through the busy one-way streets for 15 minutes trying to figure out a way to get into the hotel... After a handful of misses, we arrived in the parking lot in the back of the hotel, where the car is staying until sunday... It’ll supposedly be a good 5 hour drive to Newcastle then. In the mean time, meet our new friend: The Underground (or metro/subway). The go-as-much-as-you-like-oyster-card has been obtained, and the first real dinner has by the time of writing been thoroughly been eaten downtown, 1 block from the Apple Store...:) Sorry, I just couldn’t resist...:)

Today we’ve had 20+ degrees and blue skies in London. Word has it this will change dramatically for tomorrow, but only time will tell... We’ve already booked tickets for the premiere showing of “Transformers” on thursday, so we have a couple of indoor-activities planned already...:)
